Who are we?
H-PCAP is a non-profit charitable organization committed to supporting individuals with Aphasia—a language disorder that affects the ability to communicate, often due to stroke or brain injury.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for people living with Aphasia through funding conversation group therapy, emotional support groups, educating clients and caregivers on supportive conversation strategies and raising awareness about Aphasia in the wider community. 


What We’re Looking For:
We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer board positions:
  • Vice President
    View Role Description
  • Treasurer
    View Role Description
  • Directors at Large
    View Role Description

We welcome candidates from a variety of professional and lived experiences. In particular, we are seeking individuals with skills in:
  • Fundraising and development
  • Legal, financial, or strategic planning
  • Non-profit leadership
  • Healthcare (e.g., Speech-Language Pathology)
  • Marketing, communications, or public relations
We also encourage applications from people with Aphasia and their family members or caregivers.

Previous board experience is an asset but not required. We will provide education in non-profit governance to incoming board members.

Board Member Responsibilities:
  • Attend quarterly virtual board meetings and AGM.
  • Hold an officer role or serve on at least one board committee. 
  • Act as an ambassador for H-PCAP in the community.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth.
  • Commit to a 2-year term.
